The body of a 55-year-old man was recovered from a canal in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, with police suspecting foul play and registering a murder case. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Singh, a resident of Sikandrabad town in the district. According to preliminary reports, Singh was reported missing by his family on Monday evening after he did not return home from work.
Local residents discovered the body floating in the canal near Binauli village on Tuesday morning. The body was taken to a nearby civil hospital for a post-mortem examination, which confirmed signs of violence. Police officials stated that Singh’s hands and legs showed signs of being tied, suggesting possible abduction before murder. His family members have identified the body, and an autopsy is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bulandshahr, Shyam Sundar Yadav, confirmed the registration of a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He stated that a probe has been initiated, and a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to trace the accused. “We are examining all angles, including possible motives such as personal enmity or financial disputes,” Yadav said. The police have also appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
