Melbourne-based mathematics teacher Sunil Sharma, an Australian citizen of Indian origin, has been missing in Amritsar since May 22, 2026, prompting his daughter to appeal directly to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for urgent help in locating him.
Sharma, 66, arrived in India last month reportedly to sell a property he owned in Amritsar. According to his daughter Surbhi Sharma, who shared a video appeal on social media, all attempts to contact him have failed since May 22, with his mobile phone persistently switched off. Surbhi, who lives in Australia, stated in her emotional appeal, “I seek help to bring back my father… We have no whereabouts for him yet. His phone is switched off.” She described her father as a proud Punjabi who invested in property in his ancestral land, driven by love for the region.
