Bengaluru, Karnataka – A 26-year-old woman died by suicide at her residence in the Byatarayanapura area of Bengaluru on Thursday evening. Police have registered a case against her husband and in-laws under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 498A (cruelty by husband or relatives), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, alleging dowry harassment.
According to preliminary investigations, the deceased, identified as Meena R (name changed for privacy), was married to Suresh Gowda for two years. Sources close to the family revealed that Meena had faced repeated demands for dowry from her husband and in-laws, including requests for a car and cash. Neighbors reported hearing a heated argument between Meena and her mother-in-law earlier in the day. Around 6:30 pm, Meena reportedly consumed poison at her home and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
