Actor Bobby Deol recently shared deeply personal insights into his professional and personal life during an appearance on Rajat Sharma’s *Aap Ki Adalat* show. The candid conversation shed light on his prolonged career downtime, battle with alcohol addiction, and the pivotal role his wife, Tanya Deol, played in helping him reclaim his life.
Reflecting on the years when his career faced a major lull, Bobby admitted that he turned to alcohol as a way to cope with self-pity and emotional distress. “When you give up, you get into self-pity. It’s human nature. You feel your world is over, no one likes you, and then you get addicted to a few things which help sedate you,” he said. Recalling his father’s own struggles with alcohol, Bobby shared that he followed a similar path and became dependent. He acknowledged openly, “Even my father loved to drink, and I too started drinking and got addicted.” Speaking with deep gratitude, he credited his wife, Tanya, for pulling him out of the darkness. “If Tanya wasn’t in my life, I wouldn’t be sitting here today,” he said. During that difficult phase, Tanya not only managed the household financially but also bore all expenses, working while Bobby stayed at home. The turning point came when their children began questioning why their mother went to work while their father remained idle. “When my children started asking why I was always sitting at home and their mother would go to the office, something snapped within me and I decided to work on myself,” Bobby revealed.
