Kolkata: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal on Tuesday summoned Trinamool Congress (TMC) legislator Partha Bhowmick for questioning in connection with an alleged forged signature case. The development has added another layer of political tension in the state, just months before the Lok Sabha elections.
According to official sources, the CID registered a case under Sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using forged document as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) following a complaint filed by a private individual. The complaint alleges that a document bearing Bhowmick’s signature was forged and used for illegal land acquisition in North 24 Parganas district.
