Moolaikkaraipatti, Tamil Nadu – June 1, 2026: The Moolaikkaraipatti police have arrested an elderly couple accused of murdering their 22-year-old daughter in a shocking case of familial violence allegedly linked to an illicit relationship. The accused, Sivan, 60, and his wife Vairammal, 57, residents of Shenbhagaramanallur under the jurisdiction of the Moolaikkaraipatti police station in Tiruchi district, were taken into custody after police investigations revealed that their daughter, Amutha, had been strangled to death.
According to police sources, the couple initially reported that Amutha had died by consuming poison. However, the post-mortem examination conducted on Amutha’s body contradicted this claim. It was established that she had been strangulated before poison was administered. This revelation prompted the police to re-examine the circumstances surrounding her death.
