ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலத்தின் காக்ரோன் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள கலிபங்கான் பகுதியில் நடைபெற்றRecent archeological excavations have unearthed significant evidence supporting the existence of the mythical Saraswati River. The findings, which include fossilized riverbed sediments and ancient pottery fragments, were announced by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on August 15, 2024.
The excavation team, led by ASI’s Jaipur circle superintending archaeologist Dr. Vasant Swarnkar, discovered a 15-meter-deep stratigraphic layer containing riverine deposits. Radiocarbon dating of organic material from this layer suggests that the river flowed through this region approximately 7,000 to 8,000 years ago. This timeline aligns with references to the Saraswati River in ancient Vedic texts, which describe it as a major waterway in northwestern India during the early Holocene epoch.
