The Delhi government has announced a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s property registration system aimed at improving transparency, reducing delays, and curbing fraudulent practices. The initiative, spearheaded by the Revenue Department, is expected to be rolled out in phases starting from the next financial year, with full implementation targeted within 12–18 months.
Under the new system, all property registrations will be processed through a centralized digital platform, replacing the current manual and fragmented process. The platform will integrate with the Delhi Land Records Modernization Programme (DLRMP) and the national land records digitization initiative, ensuring real-time verification of ownership, encumbrances, and transaction details. Officials have stated that this will eliminate the need for physical visits to sub-registrar offices, significantly reducing processing time from days to potentially minutes.
