The Railways on Wednesday concluded a demolition drive in Mumbai’s Bandra area, clearing encroachments along railway land as part of a broader infrastructure expansion plan. The operation, which began earlier this week, focused on removing unauthorized structures and reclaiming railway property to facilitate future development projects.
According to officials from the Central Railway zone, the drive was carried out under the supervision of the Mumbai Divisional Railway Manager. The action targeted encroachments, including temporary shops and residential units, built on railway land without proper authorization. Authorities stated that the demolition was conducted in compliance with a Bombay High Court order issued in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a local activist group.
