New Delhi, 14 June 2025 — State-owned Oil India Limited (OIL) has announced a significant natural gas discovery in Rajasthan’s Dandewala field, marking a breakthrough in the region’s hydrocarbon potential. The newly tapped gas zone, located at a depth of 950 metres, has begun flowing approximately 25,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD), according to Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Speaking on social media, Puri praised OIL’s technological achievement, stating that the discovery would “provide momentum to India’s journey towards energy self-sufficiency.”
