Erode Town Police conducted a major anti-drug operation on Monday, June 1, leading to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 8,100 potent painkiller tablets valued at approximately ₹2.7 lakh. The raid followed a tip-off about illegal storage and sale of prescription drugs near a fish shop on Nachiappa Street. A dedicated team of police officers swiftly moved in, conducting a thorough search and apprehending the suspects on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as K. Gowrishankar (22) from Thirunagar Colony, T. Vignesh (22) from Pallipalayam in Namakkal district, N. Mohamed Jameel (21) from Krishnampalayam, and P. Deepak (24) from Kamala Nagar. According to police sources, the seized tablets belong to a powerful painkiller typically prescribed for post-surgical pain management. The accused allegedly intended to distribute these tablets illegally in the local market. In addition to the drugs, authorities also recovered a two-wheeler that was allegedly used by the suspects in their illicit operations.
