Fuel prices in India surged once again on Monday, with petrol increasing by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel by ₹2.71 per litre. This is the fourth price revision in less than two weeks, intensifying pressure on household budgets and transportation costs across the country. Consumers are already struggling with elevated fuel expenses as global energy markets remain volatile. Since fuel prices began adjusting again on May 15 after a prolonged freeze, the cumulative increase in petrol and diesel prices has now reached nearly ₹7.50 per litre.
In Delhi, the latest hike has pushed petrol prices to ₹102.12 per litre, up from ₹99.51, while diesel now costs ₹95.20 per litre, an increase from ₹92.49. These figures are based on industry sources tracking daily price revisions by oil marketing companies. The repeated upward revisions reflect sustained pressure from higher global crude oil prices and a weakening Indian rupee, both of which have increased the cost of importing crude oil.
