Hyderabad’s Medipally police have registered a fresh case of dowry harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation against a Uppal-based family after a London-returned IT professional accused them of subjecting her to persistent abuse and financial exploitation following her marriage in 2025.
According to Circle Inspector Ch Shankaraiah, the police have invoked multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—including dowry harassment (Section 85), assault (Section 118), intentional insult to modesty (Section 79), intentional insult (Section 352), and criminal intimidation (Section 351)—and initiated an investigation. The accused family members include the woman’s husband and her in-laws.
