NEW DELHI: The central government on Monday stated that it is actively overseeing fuel supplies nationwide and taking immediate steps to prevent shortages, following reports of dryouts and panic buying at petrol pumps in parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, assured that India has adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and domestic cooking gas (LPG). She attributed the supply disruptions at some retail outlets primarily to a sudden surge in demand and logistical bottlenecks.
