The Padma Awards 2026 ceremony was held at the Ganatantra Mandap in Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on Monday, May 25. One of the most notable recognitions was the posthumous Padma Vibhushan awarded to the late actor Dharmendra. His wife, actor-politician Hema Malini, accepted the award on his behalf, appearing visibly emotional. Dharmendra, fondly remembered as the He-Man of Indian Cinema, passed away in November 2025 at the age of 89. The President cited him as "one of the most versatile and successful actors in the history of the Hindi film industry" and acknowledged his contributions through 300 films.
