Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Toora confirmed on Monday that a First Information Report (FIR) had been registered against 31 inmates. The charges include rioting, arson, attempt to murder, obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties, and criminal conspiracy. Additionally, the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Prisons Act, reflecting the seriousness of the incident. Police sources stated that the inmates not only clashed with jail staff but also set fire to objects outside their barracks. The altercation escalated as some inmates broke an iron grill and a gate to reach the rooftop of their block, allegedly in an attempt to intimidate authorities.
