Muzaffarpur, Bihar – A 35-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday after his live-in partner accused him of repeated sexual assault over the past two months, police confirmed.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Muzaffarpur Sadar police station on June 12, the survivor, aged 28, alleged that the accused had been coercing her into sexual acts since mid-April. The FIR states that the woman, who resides with the accused in a rented accommodation in Ward No. 27, filed a complaint after a recent assault left her with visible injuries.
Police sources revealed that the accused, identified as Rakesh Kumar (35), was arrested under Sections 376 (rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, given the nature of the repeated assaults.
