The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has launched its annual free Summer Sports Coaching Camps, providing training to 12,036 children across 41 different sports disciplines. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, marking the beginning of a 10-day program that will run from May 25 to June 6. The event was graced by Government Whip and Visakhapatnam West legislator P.G.V.R. Naidu, along with GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Naidu commended the GVMC for organizing the sports camps, emphasizing the importance of sports in enhancing physical fitness and mental well-being. He urged students to adopt sports as a vital part of their lifestyle alongside their academic pursuits. He also highlighted that the camps could not be conducted over the past two years due to unavoidable circumstances and expressed gratitude to the GVMC Commissioner for successfully organizing them this year. Mr. Naidu appealed to parents to encourage their children to participate in sports based on their interests, stating that the camps would significantly benefit the students.
