A fatal road accident on the outskirts of Thanjavur has claimed the life of a 56-year-old motorcyclist. The incident occurred on Sunday around 10 p.m. on the Thanjavur-Vikiravandi Road near Vaiyacheri. According to local sources, the deceased, identified as Sampath, was riding his motorcycle from Thanjavur, where he worked as a driver for a private ambulance service agency, heading toward his residence in Vaiyacheri when the collision took place.
The accident occurred after Sampath’s motorcycle collided with a pedestrian who suddenly crossed the highway. The force of the impact caused Sampath to fall from his vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian, identified as Natarasan, 35, of Vaiyacheri, sustained injuries in the collision and was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital in Ayyampettai for medical treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed in official reports.
