The Indian Railways has announced an indefinite extension of services for the special train connecting Danapur (near Patna) in Bihar to Bengaluru in Karnataka. The decision, effective immediately, comes as a relief to passengers who had been awaiting clarity on the train’s operations beyond its earlier scheduled period.
The special train, numbered 03257 (Danapur–Bengaluru Special), operates as Train No. 03257 on its outward journey from Danapur to Bengaluru and as Train No. 03258 on the return leg. It covers a total distance of approximately 2,500 kilometres across multiple states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. The train features standard sleeper class accommodation and operates weekly, providing much-needed connectivity between eastern and southern India.
According to official sources, the extension has been granted in response to consistent demand from passengers and local authorities, particularly from regions like Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, which have limited direct train connectivity to Bengaluru. The move is expected to benefit students, migrant workers, and business travellers.
