A detailed study has put forward a proposal to extend the Dwarka Expressway in order to reduce traffic congestion on National Highway-48 (NH-48), one of the busiest corridors in the National Capital Region (NCR). The study, conducted by urban planning experts and transportation authorities, highlights that the current stretch of NH-48, particularly between Delhi and Gurugram, experiences heavy traffic jams during peak hours, leading to delays, increased pollution, and reduced commuter efficiency.
The proposed extension aims to create an alternate route by extending the Dwarka Expressway further towards Manesar in Gurugram district. This would help divert a significant portion of traffic away from NH-48, thereby easing the pressure on the existing highway. According to the study, the extension could also improve connectivity to key industrial and residential areas in the region, including Dwarka, Udyog Vihar, and Bawal.
