The Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched an investigation into allegations of tender rigging involving a ₹25 crore infrastructure project at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Sources indicate that the inquiry was triggered by complaints filed in early May 2024, alleging that certain bidders colluded to manipulate the tendering process for the construction of a new academic block.
According to officials, the ACB has registered a case under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code related to criminal conspiracy and cheating. Preliminary findings suggest that bid prices were artificially inflated and that some contractors may have shared sensitive information to ensure certain firms secured the contract. The university administration has stated that it is cooperating fully with the investigating agency and has initiated an internal audit of the tender process.
