Washington, June 12 – US President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed cautious optimism about the ongoing negotiations to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, estimating a "solid 50/50" chance of success. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump also issued a stark warning, stating that if the United States and Iran fail to reach an agreement, the consequences for Iran would be devastating—far worse than any previous strikes.
"At 50-50, I can live with that," Trump said when asked about the prospects of reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was abandoned by his administration in 2018. The current negotiations, mediated by European allies and indirect talks involving Iran and the US, aim to bring both sides back into compliance with the original deal, which limited Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
