Kanyakumari police on Sunday arrested two individuals after seizing two kilograms of ganja from their possession, following a tip-off. The arrests were made within the jurisdiction of the Kanyakumari police station. The accused have been identified as S. Sudhan, aged 28, a resident of Palayamkottai, and J. Abinesh, aged 24, from Samadhanapuram. Sudhan was employed at a hotel in Kanyakumari, while Abinesh is described as his friend.
According to police sources, the arrests were made after receiving credible information about the illegal possession of ganja intended for sale. Acting on the tip-off, police personnel conducted a search operation and apprehended both individuals. During the operation, a bike used by the accused was also seized. The ganja was recovered from their possession, confirming the substance involved in the case.
A formal case has been registered at the Kanyakumari police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Both accused individuals have been remanded in judicial custody, meaning they will remain in police custody until their next court appearance.
