A 28-year-old man from Panaiyadiputhagai village in Nagapattinam district was allegedly beaten to death in the early hours of Saturday following a long-standing enmity, police sources confirmed on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Senthilkumar, a resident of the same locality near Katharipulam. According to police, the incident traces back to a recent quarrel involving alcohol consumption, in which Senthilkumar reportedly clashed with Mahendran, another resident of the area.
The fatal assault occurred on Saturday night near Nagakkudaiyan Odai, a location en route to a TASMAC outlet at Avarikadu. Senthilkumar was found dead with severe head injuries, raising immediate suspicion of foul play. Police personnel from Kariyapattinam police station were alerted and recovered the body. The deceased was then taken to the Government Hospital in Vedaranyam for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
