In a remarkable display of academic excellence, students from Telangana’s Gurukula institutions have made a significant mark in the JEE Advanced 2026 examination. A total of 355 students from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) appeared for the prestigious exam, with 61 students qualifying outright and 102 securing preparatory ranks, bringing the total number of rank holders to 163. The results, announced on June 1, 2026, highlight the success of these students across 37 Centres of Excellence dedicated to Science and Arts streams.
Among the top performers, one student secured a rank below 500, while three students achieved positions within the top 1,000. Overall, 39 students ranked below 5,000. P. Hemanth from the Chilkur Boys’ Centre of Excellence stood out by securing the 200th rank in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. Additionally, students from the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGTWREIS) and Telangana Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (TGEMRS) also made their presence felt, with 113 students securing ranks. While 208 students received focused training, two students achieved ranks in the open category, 35 secured category ranks, and 96 obtained preparatory ranks. E. Charanjyoshi and Guguloth Charan secured impressive ranks of 156 and 202, respectively.
The success of these students is not limited to the open category. B. Akhila from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Farooqnagar, secured a preparatory rank of 831. Seven other girl students who qualified the examination are now poised to secure admissions in prestigious institutions such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other leading engineering colleges. This achievement underscores the transformative impact of the Gurukula education system, which is designed to empower students from marginalized communities.
The Minister for SC, ST & Minority Welfare, Adluri Laxman Kumar, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the students, teachers, and parents. He described the results as a testament to the State government’s commitment to realizing social justice through education. “Gurukula students have proven that poverty is no barrier to talent. It is a matter of pride that students from rural areas have secured admissions into the country’s premier educational institutions. The government is extending every possible support to ensure that Gurukula students excel in national-level institutions,” he stated.
The Centres of Excellence under TSWREIS are specifically designed to nurture talent in Science and Arts streams, providing students with the resources and guidance needed to excel in competitive examinations. The society operates 37 such centres across Telangana, fostering an environment of academic rigor and holistic development. The success of these students in JEE Advanced 2026 reflects the effectiveness of these institutions in preparing students for high-stakes examinations.
The results also highlight the growing representation of students from tribal and minority communities in premier educational institutions. The collaborative efforts of TSWREIS, TGTWREIS, and TGEMRS have played a pivotal role in creating opportunities for students from underprivileged backgrounds, enabling them to compete on an equal footing with their peers from more privileged backgrounds.
As these students prepare to embark on their academic journeys in some of the country’s most esteemed engineering colleges, their achievements serve as an inspiration to countless others. The State government’s initiatives, such as the Gurukula system, are not only breaking barriers but also paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable education system in India.
