A shocking incident has left the entire city of Gwalior in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, stunned. A newlywed couple ended their lives just 25 days after their wedding—a tragic and mysterious turn of events. Megha alias Jyoti, 23, and her husband Siddharth Khandel, 26, were married in a grand ceremony on 25 April 2026. Following tradition, they took seven rounds around the sacred fire and tied the knot with the *saafa* (turban) binding. Little did they know that this very *saafa* would later seal their fate.
Megha stayed with her in-laws in Kunj Vihar Colony for only five days after the wedding before returning to her parental home. On 20 May 2026, she hanged herself using her dupatta at her parents’ house. Exactly 48 hours later, on the morning of 22 May 2026, Siddharth took his own life in the bathroom of his home—using the same *saafa* he had worn during the wedding. The deaths have left their families and the entire community in shock.
