Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar urges voters in Agra to obtain voter IDs during his visit

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has appealed to voters in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra to obtain voter ID cards and participate in every election during his two-day visit to the city. He emphasised that a clean and accurate voter list is essential for a transparent electoral process. Gyanesh Kumar retired on January 31, 2024, and was appointed as an Election Commissioner on March 15, 2024. He subsequently took charge as the 26th Chief Election Commissioner of India on February 19, 2025.
Accompanied by his wife, Anuradha, Gyanesh Kumar arrived in Agra on Monday, June 1, 2026. He sought the blessings of his parents and, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, performed prayers at the Kailash Temple. During his visit, he stated that after successfully conducting assembly elections in five states, including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, he had returned to his hometown of Agra. He added that he had come to seek his parents’ blessings and to visit the Kailash Temple. “After conducting successful elections in five states, my wife Anuradha and I have come to Agra to seek our parents’ blessings,” he said. “Following that, we visited the Kailash Temple to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings.”
