Meerut, Uttar Pradesh – A tense standoff unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday when a 32-year-old man allegedly shot his wife’s lover dead in broad daylight, before surrendering to the police in Meerut’s Kanker Khera area. The accused, identified as Rakesh Kumar, reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
According to police reports, the incident took place around 7:30 AM when Rakesh Kumar allegedly spotted his wife in a compromising position with another man near their residence. Enraged, he allegedly fired three gunshots at the man, identified as 35-year-old Anil Sharma, killing him on the spot. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Kumar, who was armed with a licensed pistol, did not flee the scene and instead waited for the police to arrive.
