Kolkata, 23 July 2024: The family of Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee is hoping for relief from the Calcutta High Court. Abhishek Banerjee's parents, Amit Banerjee and Lata Banerjee, filed a petition in the High Court on Monday, seeking to quash the notice for illegal construction issued by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). They claim that their residence at 29-C, Harish Chatterjee Street, was constructed entirely in accordance with the law, making the notice issued by the KMC baseless.
In the petition, Abhishek Banerjee's family has clarified that their home was built with the necessary legal permissions, yet the KMC has issued a notice alleging illegal construction. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for 31 July 2024 in the High Court's vacation bench, and all eyes are on the court's order.
