Fatal Crash Involving Police Vehicle: Officer Dies, Three Injured While Returning After Duty

A tragic accident involving a police vehicle in Maharashtra has claimed the life of one officer and left three others seriously injured. According to local police, the incident occurred on Sunday evening at 6:45 PM on National Highway 348 in the Kalyan area of Thane district.

Residents and passersby immediately rushed to assist after the crash. Injured passengers were quickly extracted from the police vehicle and rushed to a hospital in Kalyan. Among those injured was Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Rahul Patil from the Thane Rural Police Division, who later succumbed to his injuries. The other three injured individuals, including two police personnel and one civilian, remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment.

Initial reports suggest that PSI Rahul Patil was returning after completing his duty with his team when their vehicle suddenly lost control and collided with a large tree on the side of the road. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, though police suspect brake failure or excessive speed may have been factors. Local residents reported that the road was damp at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the severity of the crash.
