The Adani Group’s Vizhinjam International Container Transshipment Port (ICTP) in Kerala has etched a new milestone in India’s port history. In a remarkable feat, the port has handled 2 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) in just 18 months, becoming the country’s fastest-growing and largest container transshipment hub. This achievement comes at a time when global trade dynamics are shifting and India’s maritime trade is expanding.
Located near Thiruvananthapuram, Vizhinjam Port commenced operations in August 2023. Since then, it has not only outpaced other major Indian ports but has also established itself on the global stage. To date, the port has handled over 950 vessels, including large container ships. Its state-of-the-art infrastructure and technological advancements are positioning it as a key player in India’s journey to becoming a global transshipment hub.
