Concerns over the structural integrity of a heritage bungalow in Mysore, once home to former President and philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, have intensified following the partial collapse of the historic building. The incident, which occurred recently, has prompted urgent calls from academic and political stakeholders for immediate restoration and conservation measures.
The bungalow, located in Saraswathipuram, served as Dr. Radhakrishnan’s residence during his tenure as a professor of Philosophy at the University of Mysore. The building was restored to its original architectural grandeur approximately 12 years ago. However, a section of the structure, now part of the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Centre for Philosophy and Indian Culture, recently gave way, raising serious questions about the long-term preservation of this cultural landmark.
