Life in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was severely disrupted after a sudden and intense bout of rain late last night. The downpour was so heavy that walls of several houses collapsed in various areas, while roads and footpaths caved in significantly. Local residents reported that the rain was accompanied by strong winds and hail, worsening the situation.
In the Housing Development Area, the rain caused the roads and footpaths to sink completely. This not only disrupted traffic but also led to cars and tractors parked nearby falling into the sinkholes. Local resident Rahul Sharma shared, “The rain started around 2 AM. Within minutes, the water rose so rapidly that the roads were submerged. When we checked in the morning, the footpaths and roads had caved into the ground. Even the wall of a house in our neighborhood collapsed.”
