Agra district in Uttar Pradesh continues to reel under severe heatwave conditions today, disrupting daily life. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to soar to 44 degrees Celsius this afternoon. The blistering heat has made outdoor conditions unbearable, prompting schools and offices to adjust their timings.
Meteorological officials have warned of a possible dust storm (andhi) this evening. Visibility could drop significantly due to dust particles suspended in the air. Additionally, wind speeds may reach 40–50 km/h, they cautioned. D.P. Dubey, a senior official with the Meteorological Department, said, “The dust storm may disrupt public transport services. People are advised to stay alert.”
The scorching heat has also raised concerns about heatstroke cases. Authorities have urged people to consume plenty of water and electrolyte-rich drinks. Hospitals have geared up to treat heatstroke patients. Farmers, too, are worried about potential crop damage due to the extreme heat. The Agriculture Department has cautioned that prolonged exposure to intense sunlight could lead to water scarcity for crops.
