A shocking incident of domestic violence and suicide in Agra district has left the community in distress. On Tuesday night, 35-year-old jute worker Rameshwar Gowda (name changed) allegedly attacked his wife, Mani Devi (32), with an iron rod in their home in the Siddhapur area of Agra city, before taking his own life. According to police records, the couple, who had been married for 10 years, had two children.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Gowda and Mani Devi were reportedly engaged in a conversation at their residence. Suddenly, Gowda flew into a rage, grabbed a nearby iron rod (known locally as a *sariya*), and struck his wife on the head. The attack left Mani Devi with a head injury and bleeding. After assaulting his wife, Gowda left the house and went to a nearby hotel, where he sat for some time. He then sent a few messages on his mobile phone before deciding to end his life.
