The heatwave in Ahmedabad is set to intensify further. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for the city for the next three days. This alert signifies that residents must take extra precautions against the heat. According to the IMD, 51 areas in the city have been identified as hotspots where temperatures are expected to remain significantly higher.
IMD officials stated that an Orange Alert means people should take adequate measures to protect themselves from the heatwave. They also predicted that Ahmedabad’s temperature will likely exceed 40°C over the next three days. Additionally, wind speeds are expected to remain low, which will further amplify the heat’s intensity.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has also urged residents to stay cautious against the heat. The AMC announced that it will enhance water facilities in hotspot areas and provide necessary guidance to help people safeguard themselves from the heat. AMC officials stated that they will arrange for water tanks, shaded areas, and cooling centers.
