The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has sharply criticised the Tamil Maanila Congress (K) party, led by former Union Minister G.K. Vasan, accusing it of engaging in unethical "horse-trading" to poach legislators. In a formal complaint, the AIADMK has urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the alleged inducement of MLAs from opposition parties, including the DMK, to switch loyalties ahead of critical state and national elections.
Addressing the media in Chennai on Wednesday, AIADMK spokesperson A. Muruganantham alleged that TVK leaders were actively targeting disgruntled legislators with financial incentives and ministerial positions to destabilise the current DMK-led government. "This is a brazen attempt to undermine democratic processes through illegal means," Muruganantham stated. He further claimed that at least three MLAs from the DMK and allied parties had been approached in recent weeks, with offers of monetary benefits and political appointments.
