The Tarn Taran police have made significant progress in the case of the alleged murder of AAP sarpanch Surjit Singh in Bhaini Kalan village. During a clash on Saturday night, two more accused were arrested, while three individuals were injured in retaliatory police action. The operation has raised hopes of uncovering new leads in the murder case.
District Police Officer (DSP) Gurpreet Singh stated that the two accused arrested during the encounter are Ajay Singh and Rajiv Kumar. He added that both were already under police surveillance, and their backgrounds are being scrutinised. According to the police, the accused have allegedly confessed to shooting Surjit Singh, though no formal statement has been recorded yet.
Meanwhile, three individuals were injured during the police’s retaliatory action. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital, and their conditions are reported as stable. The police confirmed that an armed confrontation took place during the operation, involving gunfire. The incident has heightened tensions in Bhaini Kalan village.
