Police seize lakhs worth of liquor hidden in shoe boxes in Shamalaji; being smuggled from Rajasthan into Gujarat

In Shamalaji, Aravalli district, police have busted a major haul of illicit liquor. The consignment, concealed inside shoe boxes, was being transported from Rajasthan into Gujarat. The interception was made during a police operation, with the seized stock valued at several lakhs of rupees.

Officials at Shamalaji police station stated that they had received credible intelligence about illegal liquor being smuggled from Rajasthan into Gujarat. Acting on this tip, police kept a watch on a specific area. On Wednesday morning, a man carrying shoe boxes entered the zone, raising suspicion. On inspection, the boxes were found to contain bottles of liquor.

Police immediately swung into action, detaining the individual. Nearly 500 bottles of liquor, worth approximately ₹5 lakh, were recovered from the shoe boxes. The arrested man has been identified as Prakashbhai Patel (42), a resident of Dungarpur district in Rajasthan. Apart from the liquor bottles, police also seized other incriminating material from him.
