Hyderabad, August 23: Andhrajyothi newspaper on Sunday demanded that a case should be registered against prominent saint Avimukteshwaranand under the POCSO Act for alleged sexual harassment of children. Several women and girls have alleged that they were sexually harassed by the saint. In this context, the newspaper called upon the government to take immediate action. Avimukteshwaranand has been facing several allegations since 2023. Girls and women who attended his spiritual programs have alleged that they were sexually harassed. It is learned that several complaints have already been registered with the police regarding these allegations. However, no legal action has been taken so far, the newspaper lamented. The newspaper demanded that a case should be registered under the POCSO Act, which is a special law dealing with sexual offenses against children. According to this law, stringent action should be taken against those who commit sexual offenses against children. The newspaper stated that registering a case under the POCSO Act would not only ensure justice for the victims but also encourage more victims to come forward. Although Avimukteshwaranand has faced several allegations in the past, the government has not taken any action, the newspaper criticized. In this context, the newspaper demanded that the government should take immediate action and register a case under the POCSO Act. The newspaper also called upon the government to be transparent in its handling of the matter.
