Seven individuals, including the president of the Bankura district committee of the Trinamool Congress, have been convicted in the matter. The incident occurred in April last year. Local sources reported that the deceased’s family had alleged that he was deliberately beaten, leading to his death. The victim, Shyamlal Mandal (32), was a local businessman.
According to the court’s ruling, Pradip Mandal (50), the TMC leader, along with six others, has been convicted on the same charges. Pradip Mandal served as the district president of the Trinamool Congress. He was accused of assault with the intent to murder. The other accused include Yuvaraj Mandal, Bijay Mandal, Sudhir Mandal, Ramu Mandal, Montu Mandal, and Tapas Mandal. The court observed that the accused had assaulted the deceased with sticks and sharp weapons. It was also noted that the accused fled the scene after the incident.
