Barnala, May 20 (PTI): A holiday has been declared in Barnala district tomorrow on the occasion of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal’s death anniversary. The district administration has issued a notification in this regard, stating that the holiday will apply to all government offices, schools, colleges, and private establishments.
Sant Harchand Singh Longowal’s death anniversary is observed on May 21. He was a prominent Sikh leader and a founding member of the Shiromani Akali Dal. The district administration has declared the holiday to commemorate his contributions. The day will be observed through religious and cultural events.
The notification issued by the district administration states that the holiday will be applicable in all private and government institutions. Additionally, all schools and colleges in the district will remain closed. The purpose of the holiday is to remind people of Sant Longowal’s contributions.
