Bhagalpur, June 10, 2025: The Bhagalpur Lok Sabha by-election concluded today with Rohit Pandey of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing a decisive victory over his nearest rival, Sanjay Kumar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The by-election, necessitated by the sudden demise of sitting BJP MP Ajay Kumar Mandal in March 2025, saw a high voter turnout of 62.4%, reflecting strong public engagement in the electoral process. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Pandey polled 4,85,672 votes, while Kumar garnered 3,98,215 votes, resulting in a victory margin of 87,457 votes.
The Bhagalpur constituency, known for its socio-political significance in Bihar, witnessed a spirited campaign with both parties deploying senior leaders to canvass support. Pandey, a first-time candidate and former Yuva Morcha leader, campaigned on the BJP’s national development agenda, emphasizing infrastructure projects and welfare schemes.
