In Bihar, where heavy rainfall and river flooding have caused widespread damage, the three worst-hit districts—Supaul, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga—are finally seeing signs of relief. Officials from the State Disaster Management Department and Water Resources Department have confirmed that floodwaters in these areas are gradually receding. While the situation remains serious, relief operations have been significantly stepped up.
For several days, large parts of Supaul district were waterlogged, affecting thousands of residents. The Kosi River in the northern part of the district swelled dangerously, submerging hundreds of villages. Authorities now report that the Kosi’s water level has started to drop, raising hopes of recovery. Similar improvements have been observed in Sitamarhi and Darbhanga, though many areas remain submerged.
