Bihar’s cycle of gang violence has taken a fresh turn. In Nizamabad, West Champaran district, two brothers of a former BJP legislator were shot dead in a gang-related incident. Two other people were critically injured. According to police, the attack appears linked to local gang rivalry and may have been driven by personal vendetta or political rivalry.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Nizamabad police station in West Champaran. Around 9 a.m., four to five assailants on two motorcycles opened fire. Among the dead are Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Faizal, brothers of former BJP MLA Mohammad Tahir. The critically injured include Faizal’s son and a local resident. Police reached the spot immediately and launched a probe.
On the possible motive, sources say former MLA Tahir is a prominent political figure in the area. The attack on his brothers is suspected to have been carried out either by political rivals or local gangsters, though police have not named any organisation or individual. Investigators are working to establish the exact cause and identify the shooters.
