The Delhi High Court has granted significant relief to Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan by protecting his personality rights (personality rights). On May 29, 2024, a bench led by Justice Jyoti Singh passed an interim order directing various platforms to cease any unauthorized commercial use of Varun Dhawan’s name, image, voice, or other aspects of his personality. Through this order, the court has imposed a unilateral interim stay on the issues raised in Dhawan’s petition, mandating the immediate removal of AI-generated deepfake content misusing his personality and products sold in his name without permission.
