The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, May 25, 2026, strongly criticised Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on recent fuel price hikes in India. Speaking at a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia defended the Union government’s handling of economic challenges amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly the crisis in West Asia.
Bhatia questioned whether political affiliations should come before national unity, especially during global crises. “In a global challenge, whether one belongs to the ruling party or Opposition, can they not stand with the country?” he asked, addressing Gandhi’s comments on rising petrol and diesel prices. He reiterated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has managed external pressures with resilience.
