The decomposed body of a 12-year-old boy, who had been missing since August 12, was recovered from a field in Ratanpur village under the jurisdiction of Musahari police station in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, on the morning of August 18. The identity of the child has been confirmed as Aman Kumar, a resident of the same village, according to local police officials.
Aman was last seen on the evening of August 12 near a local market, where he had gone to buy stationery. His family reported him missing later that night after he failed to return home. A search operation was launched the next day, involving local villagers and police personnel, but no trace was found until the body was discovered nearly six days later.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Kumar confirmed the recovery and stated that preliminary investigations suggest the child may have been abducted. “The body was found in a sugarcane field approximately 2 km from his home. Post-mortem examination is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” the SP said. He added that the police are examining CCTV footage from the market and questioning local residents to identify any suspicious activity.
