A six-year-old boy from Diginarai village in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district was swept away by a flash flood in a forest stream near Thalavadi on the evening of May 24, 2026. The child, identified as R. Madhan Karthik, a Class II student, was found dead on the morning of May 25 after an intensive overnight search operation was resumed at dawn.
According to police officials, the tragedy unfolded as heavy rainfall caused a nearby stream to overflow, transforming it into a raging torrent. Madhan Karthik had reportedly gone near the stream despite the rising water levels. When he did not return home for an extended period, his anxious parents and relatives began searching the area. Unable to locate him, they suspected he may have been swept away in the flash flood and immediately informed the Thalavadi police.
